China Glaze Electric Nights Collection - Comparisons

Wednesday 1 April 2015

Earlier this week I swatched and reviewed the new China Glaze Electric Nights collection (you can check this post out here if you missed it).  Now most people would know how often I use the China Glaze Sunsational cremes and Orly Glowstick so I thought it would be nice to compare those polishes to this collection along with some other polishes that people have asked to see.  I didn't use any white bases for these swatches (except where noted in the yellow swatches).

China Glaze Daisy Know My Name? vs Orly Glowstick
Originally when I swatched Daisy Know My Name? I swatched it without a white base.  In this comparison I have swatched Orly Glowstick with two coats over white (on my pinkie) and two coats of Daisy Know My Name? over white (one my ring finger).  On my middle finger I have four coats of Daisy Know My Name? and three coats of Orly Glowstick.  There is defintely no dupes with these polishes.  My heart definitely still belongs to Glowstick and I definitely prefer Daisy Know My Name? over a white base.

China Glaze DJ Blue My Mind vs China Glaze Wait N Sea vs Orly Skinny Dip vs China Glaze Towel Boy Toy
Definitely no dupes for this one.  They don't look as close in colour in person as they do in my picture (the joys of photographing neon polishes).  I think the Orly Skinny Dip would be closest to China Glaze Towel Boy Toy if it was used with a white base.  Formula wise China Glaze DJ Blue My Mind and China Glaze Wait N Sea are similar and only need two coats to be opaque.  Orly Skinny Dip and China Glaze Towel Boy Toy are shown with three coats each.

China Glaze Glow With The Flow vs China Glaze Bottoms Up
As you can tell by my picture theses two polishes are completely different colours.  I think the formula of Glow With The Flow is better than Bottoms Up, although I have used three coats of each in my swatch.  Bottoms Up dries quite quickly so becomes rather patchy when you paint it on.  Which polish do I prefer?  Both.  I love them both and will be using them lots (I can see a pink gradient with these two in the future).

China Glaze Home Sweet House Music vs China Glaze Sun Of A Peach
Definitely no dupes here.  The formula of Home Sweet House Music is definitely a lot better.  It's not as streaky and patchy as Sun Of A Peach, although it does dry a lot slower (I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing).  Again I love the colours of these both so will definitely be using them both over and over.  I used three coats of Home Sweet House Music and four coats of Sun Of A Peach.

China Glaze Plur-ple vs China Glaze That's Shore Bright
I love both of these polishes.  They both are gorgeous colours and have similar formulas (they both need two coats to be opaque).  That's Shore Bright does dry quicker than Plur-ple.

China Glaze Red-y To Rave vs China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy (original) vs China Glaze Thistle Do Nicely vs OPI Down To The Core-al
No dupes here.  I love the colours of all four of these.  In terms of formulas, Red-y To Rave is definitely the easiest to use as it doesn't dry and become streaky like Flip Flop Fantasy.  Both Red-y To Rave and Flip Flop Fantasy show two coats, while Thistle Do Nicely and Down To The Core-al are three coats.

China Glaze Treble Maker vs China Glaze Highlight Of My Summer vs OPI You Are So Outta Lime
No dupes again here.  Formula wise OPI You Are So Outta Lime is the most difficult and needed three coats to be opaque.  The two China Glaze polishes only needed two coats.  Now I should point out that my bottle of Highlight Of My Summer is quite old (and very much used) so I think the formula has changed over time.  I do remember it being a lot more difficult to use previously.

China Glaze UV Meant To Be vs China Glaze Capacity To See Beyond
Now these two look very similar in the bottles but swatched are really different.  Capacity To See Beyond is a lot lighter.  I prefer the formula of UV Meant To Be as it isn't as runny.  Both polishes show two coat in my swatch.

China Glaze Violet-Vibes vs OPI Push & Pur-pull
These are completely different (although probably would be closer in colour if the OPI was used with a white base).  Formula wise China Glaze wins hands down with this one.  It only needs two coats to be opaque where the OPI needs four coats.  From memory the OPI needs two to three coats for even coverage over white.

Surprisingly out of all of my neon polishes (and I would say I have a decent collection - although I wouldn't ever say no to more) I don't have a single dupe in the Electric Nights collection.  As for which collection do I prefer - Electrics Nights or Sunsational - both.  I love that they are so completely different and I think that the colours from both collections will work well together.  You can bet I will be using them a lot over on Instagram.

    1. Thanks Christy. I find comparison posts have a habit of doing that. It either helps you to cut down on your wishlist if you have something very similar or it just makes you add more to the list (which is usually the case for me).

  2. I have just got Glowstick and that would definitely be my preference over the CG. Thanks for the comparison between Bottoms Up and Glow. I really NEED Glow too :)) Shore Bright is the closest to the neon purple I am after. I wonder if a white base would give me that added zing.I did hear theres' an amazing MT neon purple but I can't remember its name! UV Meant to Be is a must. A really helpful and clear post!

    1. I love Glowstick. It's hands down the best neon yellow EVER! It will definitely be really hard to find a better one. Shore Bright is an awesome neon purple. And it would definitely pop more over white. If you scroll through my IG and look for pretty much any neon nail art mani you'll see what one coat it looks over white. And the bonus is the formula is good. I'm glad my post helped out...even if it was just to add to you NEED list :)
